EV production continues to rise amidst UK's auto manufacturing collapse
The UK’s car production continued its downward spiral for the fourth consecutive month in October, with total manufacturing shrinking by 41.4% year-on-year to 64,729 units, Kallanish reports.
Mike Hawes, ceo of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), described the figures as “extremely worrying,” noting they show how “badly” the global semiconductor shortage is hitting UK car manufacturers and their suppliers.
