European carmakers holding back EV adoption by selling premium cars: T&E
European carmakers are slowing electric vehicle adoption by focusing on the sales of larger, more expensive electric cars, Transport & Environment (T&E) suggested Monday.
Only 17% of electric cars sold in Europe are in the affordable B-segment, compared to 37% of new combustion engine vehicles, the campaign group says in a new analysis. Larger, more premium D-segment BEVs take up 28% of the market share, while D-segment ICE’s account for only 13%.
