Envirostream Australia bags battery recycling grant
Australia’s first onshore mixed battery recycling company, Envirostream Australia, has received a grant of A$201,399 from the Australian state of Victoria.
The funding was awarded under the Round 2 of the e-waste infrastructure grant announced in late October. It will be allocated to Envirostream’s Rechargeable Battery Recycling project, Kallanish learns.
The government implemented the e-waste to landfill ban in July 2019. Through its Sustainability Victoria agency, the Victorian government plans to invest A$16.5 million to strengthen the e-waste sector.
Envirostream claims to be leading the innovation change with new battery processing methods, helping Australia to tackle one of its biggest emerging challenges. The company is the only one in the country able to recycle all the power materials from spent lithium-ion batteries.
