DeLorean heads back to the future with electric vehicle
The futuristic DeLorean automobile that became an icon via the Back to the Future movies is making a comeback as an electric vehicle, Kallanish reports.
The company's concept model will be unveiled 18 August at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California.
"Excitement is rising like the doors of our iconic sports car, and we are revealing the next generation prototype three days earlier than planned on the most prestigious stage at Pebble beach,” says chief marketing officer Troy Beetz. “The past, present, and future of DeLorean will unfold over the duration of Monterey Car Week through a series of activations and events showcasing the vehicle. Along with the reveal, DeLorean will also announce the official name of the vehicle.”
The original DeLorean made waves in 1981 with its stainless steel body and then-novel gull-wing doors. A modified version served as the time machine in 1985’s Back to the Future.
