Conservation groups sue US Forest Service over Arizona copper exploration
A coalition of local and national conservation groups is suing the US Forest Service to block copper exploration in the Patagonia Mountains in southern Arizona, Kallanish reports.
The suit, filed in US District Court in Tucson, Arizona, alleges that the federal agency violated the National Environmental Protection Act by approving exploratory drilling without considering the cumulative effects of mining on water in Sonoita Creek and on endangered species.
