BYD plans $290m LFP cathode plant in Chile
Chinese EV giant BYD plans to invest $290 million in a lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) cathode plant in Chile, according to the Chilean economic development agency CORFO.
Local subsidiary BYD Chile was cleared to have access to preferential prices for lithium carbonate to be used as feedstock for the plant. The project is planned to produce 50,000 tonnes/year of LFP cathode materials in the Antofagasta region. Production is slated to start in 2025, Kallanish learns.…
