BYD delays LFP cathode plant in Chile
Chinese EV maker BYD has reportedly delayed its plans to set up cathode materials plant in Chile due to issues with permits and suppliers.
The project was initially expected to start operations in late 2025 and require an estimated investment of $290 million. It was proposed to produce 50,000 tonnes per year of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode materials, using lithium carbonate supplied by SQM Salar as part of an already secured five-year contract.
