BMW Group starts serial cell coating at Leipzig plant
BMW Group announced on Wednesday the start of series production of its cell coating line at its Leipzig plant in Germany, expanding its in-house e-component manufacturing, Kallanish reports.
The new coating line is the first of five planned for the site. It has capacity to handle 2,300 coated cells per hour, or over 10 million cells/year. The carmaker plans to commission the remaining four lines throughout this year at roughly two-month intervals.
