BMW Group expands battery module production at Leipzig plant
German carmaker BMW Group started on Monday the second production line for battery modules at its Leipzig plant in Germany, Kallanish reports.
The €70 million ($71.6m) e-component production expansion in Saxony will feed the BMW i4 BEVs produced in Munich. The all-electric cars feature an 83.9-kilowatt-hour battery, promising ranges of up to 590 kilometres (WLTP). Each battery is estimated to have four modules with 72 cells each.
