Anglo American reaches first production at Quellaveco’s copper project
Anglo American announced 12 July that it has achieved its first production of copper concentrate at its $5.5 billion Quellaveco project in southern Peru, Kallanish reports.
The open pit mine in the Moquegua region is planned to produce 300,000 tonnes of copper equivalent per year on average in the first decade of operation. The project now waits for final regulatory clearance to start commercial operations.
