Antonio Marcegaglia was born in Mantua in 1963, and after graduating from Bocconi University in Milan, he immediately began an upward career in the family business.  Starting from 1991, he leads the internationalization process of the group. In October 2013, he was appointed Chairman and CEO of Marcegaglia SpA. With corporate restructuring in 2015, he also became Chairman and CEO of Marcegaglia Carbon Steel, Marcegaglia Specialties, and Marcegaglia Plates, which make up the group’s core business. Today, wholly controlled by Marcegaglia Steel, with Antonio Marcegaglia as Chairman and CEO, these companies – 6,500 employees in 28 plants, bringing in overall revenues of 5.5 billion euros in 2020 – are an industrial and financial asset with a global presence.

Laurent is Head of Operational Marketing in the team of CMO Flat Products at ArcelorMittal Europe. Operational marketing includes the following areas of responsibility: market intelligence, demand planning, price policy, commercial steering, value recovery team (non-prime) and trade defence. Laurent joined the Group with Wire Solutions in 1996 as Area Sales Manager Northern Europe and became Commercial Director of Wire & Strands until 2006. He moved to Mittal Steel Europe in Rotterdam as Product Manager Wire Rods, before joining the Corporate Marketing team in Luxembourg shortly after the merger. Since 2012, Laurent was in charge of corporate Group CCM (Commercial Coordination & Marketing) focusing on global market and price intelligence, export coordination, and global trade policy. Laurent holds a Master Degree in Applied Economics at the Faculty of University Antwerp, Belgium, as well as a Master in Business Administration specialising in Marketing at the Vlerick Business School, Belgium.

After graduating from Oxford University in 1977, with a degree in Mathematics, Dick has spent the last 42 years permanently employed in the steel trade. Over half of those years with current employer Stemcor. Dick’s experience ranges from his earlier years importing flat rolled steel and long products into the UK market, through a period trading long products across the globe, then a decade trading raw materials for steel making, and for the last five years looking after much of Stemcor’s European import and distribution business. Three times Chairman of the International Steel Trade Association, Dick has a wealth of experience, both sourcing and marketing steel products and steel making raw materials, across the globe.

Tommaso graduated in mechanical engineering from Università degli Studi di Parma in 1996. He started his career as a designer in the agricultural business for Landini spa, and then he moved to Germany in the automotive business working for Victor Reinz Gmbh, Dana Corp. In 2000, after attaining a Master in Business Administration in SDA Bocconi, he joined McKinsey & Co handling projects in utilities, banking and insurance sectors. Later he joined the Allianz Group as a marketing manager and then he became the credit manager of AllianzBank. Tommaso entered the steel industry with S.Polo Lamiere spa becoming General Manager in 2008 and CEO in 2012, currently holding this position, at the same time he was appointed Vice-President of Assofermet, the Italian association of steel distributors, and in 2015 he became President of the Steel Division of Assofermet. Since January 2017 he is member of the board of Tecnopali, the Italian leading company in lighting and TLC poles and electricity transmission systems.

Tomas is the Managing Editor Asia for Kallanish and produces editorial content on the region, with a focus on China, as well as overseeing Kallanish's operations in East Asia. He is based in Shanghai, where he has lived and worked for the last six years. Tomas speaks Mandarin as well as English and Spanish. He has also spent three years in Beijing studying and working. Previously, Tomas worked at Steel Business Briefing, where he joined shortly after graduating with a masters degree in Asian politics from SOAS in London.

Andrew is the Founder & MD at Avatar Commodities. He has had a diverse career in international commodities for over 25 years, posted in four continents, in a variety of disciplines with a range of physical trading & financial organisations. Each role has had him successfully leading & developing businesses, creating sustainable value in varied products & services across agriculture, energy & mined resources. He is a passionate advocate of leading positive evolution in commodity markets with innovation, collaboration, transparency & accountability. He has won various industry awards (e.g. SGX Iron Ore Trader of the Year), appears regularly in the media, and is a sought-after speaker & consultant. Andrew also devotes time as a director & mentor with WIMAR (Women In Mining And Resources) as an advocate of gender equality, inclusion & diversity. Recently he has added carbon emissions & ESG to his expertise in joining Viridios Capital which has developed propriety AI to bring unique transparency in valuation to the voluntary carbon, ESG & SDG ecosystem while generating significant returns for investors. In 2017 he founded Avatar Commodities, which successfully designed, built & delivered significant change & value for Anglo American, later joining them as head of iron ore trading.

Roberto has a higher education degree in Engineering in Università degli Studi di Genova. The most part of his career is linked to the steel industry where he worked for more than 20 years. He joined Trametal in 1999 in a sales function covering different roles and responsibilities contributing to company’s growth. In 2008, Roberto was appointed as Head of Metinvest Western Europe Sales Organization with the responsibility for sales of Metinvest Group products in western Europe. His professionalism and insightful knowledge of the industry enabled the successful development of market position and customer base of Trametal and other European assets of Metinvest making the group one of leaders in the flat steel market. Since July 2018 Roberto is responsible for all Metinvest sales in Europe with a focus on sales strategy and business development.

Stefano Ferrari was born in 1980 and graduated in Consumer Goods, Retail Distribution and Business Communication from the IULM University in Milan, before joining Siderweb SpA in 2005. After five years in journalism, in 2009 he became managing director of Siderweb, the Italian steel community. In 2013 and 2015 he ran the press office for Made in Steel, the biggest trade fair for the southern European steel industry, and since January 2014 has worked in the Siderweb Studies Office.

Emanuele Norsa is a respected analyst and consultant for the European steel market. During the last fifteen years, he has worked for news and price agencies such as Steel Business Briefing, Platts, Kallanish and Siderweb. He often features at international events organised by leading international associations and companies.

Roberto was born Turin in 1974. After graduating high school with a language diploma in 1996 he was employed by one of the largest Italian Groups in the mechanical engineering sector, manufacturing steel wheels for passenger cars. After a couple of years in the workshop, Roberto was moved to the sales department in charge of back office for OEM customers across different plants throughout Europe. In 2002 Roberto entered the flat carbon steel world, moving to the sales department of one of the most important steel service centres in Italy. From that moment he expanded his knowledge of different products, by visiting customers, producers, and suppliers to better understand every application, with a particular focus on аutomotive and аppliance market. Roberto mainly supported customers in Italy, but also Slovenia, Switzerland and France. Roberto joined EU-Metal BVBA in July 2019, a reputed trading company based in Belgium.

As Director General of UK Steel, Gareth ensures that the organisation plays a key role in promoting the future success of steel in the UK, as well as highlighting the significant challenges that the sector currently faces. UK Steel is at the heart of the steel sector debate, as the key unified voice of the industry. Gareth began his career in manufacturing before, first representing the milk processing industry on environment and climate change and then joining EEF in 2007, as Head of Climate & Environment Policy. Gareth led EEF’s work on a broad range of environment policies that affect the UK manufacturing sector, with a clear focus on the steel sector. Gareth is also the Executive Director of ISSB (International Steel Statistical Bureau). Gareth graduated from Kings College London with a degree in Environmental Science and is a Fellow of both the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.

Daniel has worked in the downstream divisions of a number of European steel companies in career in spanning 40 years. Through several mergers between Cockerill, Usinor, Arbed, Aceralia, Arcelor and finally ArcelorMittal, Daniel has been in charge of various Stockholding and Steel Service Centers networks across many European countries. He retired from ArcelorMittal in March 2019, and became Director General of Eurometal in April 2019.  

Karl has been Director at the European steel association EUROFER (Brussels), responsible for international relations since April 2007. Prior to joining EUROFER, Karl worked for Arcelor Corporate (Luxembourg) in the International Affairs department (2001). Karl worked in Central sales organization of Sidstahl in Ghent (1997- Flat carbon steel Sector of Arbed) and then joined the Marketing Services in 1999. In 1994, Karl was in charge of the sales coordination for cold-reduced sheets in Central sales organization TradeARBED (Luxembourg). In 1989, Karl was employed in the legal service at steel producer Sidmar - Arbed group (Ghent). Karl has a Law degree from the University of Louvain (1987) and from the College of Europe, Bruges (1988).

Dan is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - the birthplace of the US steel industry - and he started in the industry in 2009 with the original Steel Business Briefing. Prior to that, Dan covered police and military affairs in Beaufort, South Carolina, and spot news for the Valley News Dispatch in Tarentum, PA. As part of the North American Kallanish team, Dan covers flats, tubular products and specialty steel products. 

Vinay is the head of Sales & Marketing (Domestic and International) at JSW Steel Ltd. He joined JSW Steel in 2010 and in a short period he has pioneered various initiatives towards improving steel sales & marketing in India. He has focussed on enhanced customer service; introduced Value Added products for serving yellow goods, construction, appliance and solar sectors. Vinay has introduced products for emerging segments like renewable energy; established JSW as a major supplier in the appliance industry, scaled up the alloy steels, long products and coated products portfolio of JSW. In the international markets, he has focussed on value added products and expanded JSW’s reach to newer geographies. Vinay has leveraged digital technology to connect the entire ecosystem of B2B as well as B2C customers including influencers and channel partners. A regular speaker at International forums, he is an alumni of B.I.T.S, Pilani with over 32 years of experience in industries ranging from FMCG, Petrochemicals, Telecommunications, Retail & Steel.

Gorkem received his master's degree in Management of Business Administration in 2002 from La Salle University, Philadelphia, USA. He started his career in the US, working in multinational companies such as Saint Gobain. Later, he went on to work in the stock market fortune 500 company SEI Investments as a mutual fund trader in the US. In 2005, he took a challenge in the steel industry and started to work for steel producers as an executive for export markets. Then, he was appointed as a director of the steel desk of LN metals, a commodity trading company in London. In 2012, Gorkem founded Galex Steel International -- a trading house mainly focused on flat steel products and exports to Europe, Turkey, South America, Middle East and Far East. Galex represents reputable government and private mills from China, India and Turkey on regional or project basis. The company covers global markets through its offices in Turkey, China, India and Russia.

Ersun is the Marketing and Strategy Manager at Borcelik, which is a joint venture of Borusan Holding of Turkey and ArcelorMittal. Borcelik is a re-roller specialized in giving service to automotive, white (consumer) goods, panel radiator, hvac, industrial packaging and construction sectors. We are one of the biggest exporters of Cold Rolled (CR) and Hot-dip Galvanized (HDG) flat steel, mainly to European Union, Middle East, North America and CIS countries. Ersun has more than 15 years of experience in flat steel; in purchasing, export sales and marketing & strategy divisions.

Andrii has 15-year experience in investment banking and commodities market analysis as head of research and head of trading department. Graduated from Donetsk University of Management Production management faculty in 2005. His expertise are in: global steel markets, oil & gas, financial markets, and industrial policy issues. Andrii covers financial and strategic issues, improving cost-management, budgeting systems building, and audit for steel companies in consulting projects.

Born in 1964, he earned a degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Stuttgart. He held positions of increasing responsibility within ThyssenKrupp Steel and its subsidiaries in Germany. He covered the role of Sales Director in ThyssenKrupp Tailored Blanks, specialized in the sector of laser-welded steel products for automotive industry.He continued his professional career in the same sector in the USA, where he assumed first the position of CEO & President of TWB Company and then CEO of ThyssenKrupp Steel USA and ThyssenKrupp Materials NA, also dealing with start-up projects and green field investments. Since 2020, he has been appointed CEO in FERALPI STAHL. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl, the German association of steel companies.

With a mindset to explore and improve, Carl Orrling has gone from running trials at the steel plant to today leading overall technical development. During his 20-year career, Carl has held numerous managerial positions in production and technical development. Some of his credits are implementation of a specialist career path, managing several strategic investments and playing a key role in the SSAB – RUUKKI merger. Carl´s current responsibility covers research and development for SSAB Europe, one of three steel divisions in SSAB, which includes the entire value chain from process, product and application development.

Andreas is an experienced steel market consultant, watching and analyzing the German steel market for more than 25 years. He is providing in-depth-information, analysis and individual consulting services on the European/German steel market with a special focus on purchasing decisions of steel processing companies of all sizes. His maxime is to provide the most competent, independent and reliable service by means of expertise and networks. StahlmarktConsult is working closely with several industry associations representing mostly SME`s within the automotive supply chain. After studying economics in Cologne Andreas worked for several associations of the steel processing industry. He was Head of the raw material and steel market Department at Wirtschaftsverband Stahl- und Metallverarbeitung (WSM), Düsseldorf, and Managing Director at Verband der freien Rohrwerke, Siegen. In 2012 Andreas founded his own consulting company StahlmarktConsult, located in Leverkusen. Andreas lives in Leverkusen, and is married with two children.
